Hullo and Down offer different approaches to dating. Down focuses on casual connections and quick, interest-based matching, while Hullo emphasises AI-driven compatibility and its First Voice feature to help users sense genuine chemistry from the start. According to the 2025 Global Online Dating Report, about 66 percent of singles now prioritise personality and communication over purely visual attraction when choosing apps. “Down is popular among users seeking spontaneous connections and low-pressure interactions,” says Dr. Rachel Lin, digital dating behaviour researcher. “Hullo enhances authentic compatibility by analysing behaviour patterns and voice cues, guiding users toward meaningful and emotionally aligned matches,” explains Dr. Jason Kim, AI relationship technology specialist. If you are weighing casual, fast-paced matching against thoughtful, compatibility-driven connection, this comparison will help you select the platform that best fits your dating style.

I happened to see an article in Men’s Health Magazine titled, “The 17 Best Sex Apps for Finding a Casual Hookup”, and Down Dating was one of the 17. It was easy to set up my profile, in fact you have limited space to describe yourself and/or what you are looking for. Instead, the app relies on picking what you’d be “down” to trying - things like cuddling, kissing, fwb, group play, etc. You also can choose what type of relationship you are looking for - casual or more serious. I’ve only been on the site a very short time, but I have not seen any clearly fake profiles, nor received any message from bots or catfishers like I have on some other sites (like when your profile is essentially empty) and a “women” is reaching out to you). I have sent a few likes and messages, but have not heard back anything yet, but if anything, at this point that makes me feel like this is a legitimate site (and it was in the Men’s Health article which also lends it some degree of credibility). I hope to be able to report back soon my further experience with the site confirming this preliminary review.
Overpriced & nobody ever responded to any attempts made to begin communicating. If you make a mistake & accidentally swipe up or down, you add somebody mistakenly to those that you like even though you may not like them at all. But bc there is so much clutter on the screen, whenever attempting to simply move the picture up or down to gain a better perspective & better view of a given picture & profile, you end up “liking,” or wanting to either date ir hookup w a given person even though you don’t want to at all. Just trying to see a profile picture & it ends thinking you want to get w that person. It’s a terrible design & there is no way of deleting a mistake “date,” or “hookup.” So then you end up stuck w profiles & people who you don’t want to date, or hookup w, but end up stuck w a list of possible mistakes that you can’t undo. Your just stuck w a bunch of people who you don’t want to talk to or date, but I guess they end up thinking you do just bc you wanted a better look at their profile picture so the app punishes you by making you keep your mistakes, no way or correcting them. Also, no of looking back at any “flirts,” you may have sent & what you said to any person. In case you wanted to go back & see what you said to who, it’s not possible. Not a fan of the app, will not be renewing.
This app is ridiculous. You can see all types of people on here, you can even like people and have them like you back. Most accounts on here are fakes, with well known social media influencers stock photos from social media being used to attempt to lure people in. You cannot at all interact with anyone on this site unless you pay the $32 a month subscription fee. Oh, and when you sign up, you’re automatically entered into a re-occurring subscription that charges $32 a month that is charged to your debit card. This site is a literal scam, because what happens is that as soon as you sign up for their subscription JUST TO BE ABLE TO MESSAGE!!! The people that liked you previously all the sudden become ghosts. All the accounts on here are not real and are actual bots that mimic interactions in order lure you in to paying. Then as soon as you pay, the bots become silent because this company has already gotten what they want from you and that is your money. There is absolutely no and I really mean ZERO customer service to contact either. Like, they don’t even have that option. So as soon you opt to give them your debit card or payment details, you’re now locked into a subscription that you cannot cancel or get out of. I’m not even certain how they get away with literally scamming people and get to remain on the App Store. This definitely needs to be looked in to. DON’T SAT YOU WEREN’T WARNED!
After reviewing some online remarks about this app i decided to give this “completely free” app a chance. I don’t know why I thought it would be any different than the others but obviously the developers and employees musta made fake profiles to give positive reviews because it was no different in the sense of the required up charges that are for worthless coin purchase options and or ridiculous subscriptions that are thrown at after app download and for what just to see who viewed your profile or to message someone who peaked an interest and I’m sure like the others once do an in app purchase you find it’s riddled with Ai generated Bots and fake profiles. This app turned out to be even worse than the rest. This app not used boater line bait and switch tactics I charges me for a 3 month subscription I never intended to purchase. As bad as that was I could’ve handled that and walked away but for past reasons like this one I keep very limited amounts of money on the accounts I have associated with my iCloud just to prevent unauthorized charges but this app has attached the subscription to my account which in turn has disabled my App Store or iTunes until it’s payed for and Apple cannot do a thing about it so they suggested I reach out to them which I did and have received nothing not even a response refusing to remove the fraudulent act by them. They have chosen to ignore my correspondence and request of removal. So I have been instructed to first and foremost leave this review and now will look at other potential legal cyber regulatory actions.
