Photo first dating has long shaped user behaviour, but alternatives are emerging. Hullo prioritises personality and voice to encourage authentic chemistry. Jigsaw gradually reveals photos to reduce appearance bias. Studies show that 45% of users report more meaningful conversations when visuals are delayed. “Hullo’s voice feature complements personality based discovery,” explains Dr. Paul Edwards, cognitive psychology researcher. “Jigsaw challenges surface level judgement,” says Dr. Rachel Kim, social perception specialist. This comparison highlights different paths toward authenticity.

I let the team know an issue I was having with my app and they were so sweet and generous and offered me a week of jigsaw+ I think this app is by far my favorite “meet people” sort of app. I love the concept of not knowing what someone looks like until you get to know them at least a little bit the only thing I really don’t like is that after a while people expire and you need the jigsaw+ for “forgiveness” and that really is frustrating because people have lives and they get busy and sometimes we don’t have time to check the app to see if we have a message let alone respond I feel like that feature is pointless and can ruin a lot of potential relationships. But other than that the app is FANTASTIC. I had to redo my previous review because the problem was solved lolOh another thing I would like to suggest is making a go back button because I’m constantly hitting the pass button on accident while trying to read the profiles.
I downloaded the app to see what it was like as the concept I found intriguing. I like the push to have conversations and how it makes it a fun game to reveal the person . Not that many people on the app currently but that’ll change as user base grows. However, I don’t like 1.) how you can hit the pass option pretty easily and there is seemingly no way to undo that mistake like most dating apps 2.) it appears my account has vanished. I signed in with Apple, and when I reopened the app the next day it was asking me to create a new account and I can’t find a way to sign in, seemingly my account is gone. And if it isn’t, I would like to know how to delete the account. 3.) I don’t like that people can pretty easily conceal their weight/lifestyle. 2 people may get along, but they may not realise if one person is a bodybuilder and the other is inactive until after they reveal each other, and the app says “don’t be shallow and base it on looks” but I don’t think that 2 people who aren’t on the same level in terms of fitness will find each other that compatible over time. And I will say that in general, attraction is an important thing. What happens to a user if they get along with another user, but when the jigsaw pieces are removed they don’t find the person attractive and decides not to pursue them romantically anymore? Will that user get banned over not wanting to date someone they aren’t physically attracted to? Just curious what the answer is to those questions. I appreciate the concept and app and I wish the team success, I just wish these issues are addressed and I would like to know what happened to my account. Have a Great Day to whoever is reading this.
I genuinely feel scammed. The organization should be ashamed to charge anything for today’s experience, let alone $30. I just went to the Boston Coffee Shop speed dating event. First, it was at a brewery, not a coffee shop and there was no coffee. Second, the organizer seemed to be struggling with how to rotate the participants. All that needed to happen was to have the men rotate in the same direction from each table to the next table down and have the late shows go to the end or wait. By the way she was slotting people in random places, or having some tables rotate right, others left, others in a snake pattern… you would’ve thought this was a Euclidean algebra problem. There must have been around 50 participants total (25 each gender) but people only got to meet about 5 or 6 each. It failed at the most basic aspect of what a speed dating event is. What made me call this a scam above all is that after the event, even though you have paid a whopping $30 you cannot view the participants from the event on the app (which they suggest you do) unless you pay for membership. Literally like being taxed on something you already paid tax on! The app itself seems functional and the design is decent, but because the dating is tied to the app, I’m giving this only 2 stars.
My husband and I met about 9 days after we started talking on this app. We met in a cute small town downtown for dinner, drinks, and dancing. We clicked so quickly and stayed out as long as possible before heading home our separate ways… and then continuing to text all night. We’ve been inseparable since. And it started here. Being able to focus on who he is and not nitpicking arbitrary things allowed us to be so open with each other. And we didn’t have to spend the first 10 messages talking about physical features and things in each other’s pictures. We were able to jump right in to who we were and actually find out that we connected on so many levels. I recommend this app to all of the single people I know. If you’re looking for a real connection, you should try here.
